The terminology of calling this an embryo cloning or the cloning of an
embryo is somewhat confusing. It makes it sound like they started with an
embryo and made a copy of it, which is of course old tech, done routinely
in certain procedures, as well as naturally with identical twins.

As I understand it, this was a cloning of an adult human being which
was terminated at the embryo state. The idea was that the embryo
could potentially be a source of stem cells for tissue engineering.
However presumably the embryo could have been implanted and allowed to
come to gestation as a cloned human being.

Please correct me if this is not an accurate reading of the reports.
