NEWS: Intel invents beakthrough in transistor design

This is *real* news -- signs of the singularity type news...

Intel has come up with a new transistor architecture that
may promise terahertz clock speeds (Cough... Not with
a traditional chip architecture because the clock can't
propagate across the chip! At any rate...)

They do appear to have broken through several barriers
including reduced leakage current (keeps the chips cooler)
and a new insulating material (which was one of the
"show-stoppers" people were fearing for Moore's Law).

Here is the article:
http://www.siliconvalley.com/docs/news/reuters_wire/1679124l.htm

If the "cloning" article is any indication, at least 3 other
people will submit this "NEWS" to the Extropian list over
the next 2 days.

You heard it here first!

Robert
