I expect there may be some natural compounds (Metabolite 356(?)
and/or other metabolism raising health products) that act
someplace in this pathway.

The Pharma companies are doing more than a little research
on this because it is clear that if you could simply elevate
the body temperature by a few tenths of a degree you would
have a great weight loss medication. They've only had their
hands on the proteins involved for a couple of years and
the gene sequences for even less. The literature suggests
they are still wrestling with the details of which uncoupling
proteins act where and how much they contribute to basal
metabolic energy consumption. But in a year or two I expect
the pharma pipeline will be jammed with medications working
at various places in the whole appetite/metabolic rate
pathways.
