The KGB is still going strong as well, under a new name and management
for reasons which have absolutely nothing to do with their measures used
to recover their citizens.

The general public is an ass. Always so touchy unless of course their
own particular ox is being gored. Liberals against gestapo tactics
except of course in respect to treatment of anti-abortion protesters,
etc... They have little trust left for others but are pissed when they
themselves are distrusted. Societies get the government they deserve.
