This was actually my point. Sure, Gore didn't single-handedly create
the Internet, but he wasn't an unrelated bystander either.
The Republicans usually misquote him as saying he "invented" the
Internet. Since Gore actually took an initiative role in getting the
congressional bill passed that actually did create the Internet, his
claim is not as outrageous as the Republicans make it sound.
