In the context of this discussion, the dictionary definition of
consciousness matters not at all, and I don't now and never have
disputed the dictionary definition of the word. I'd variously define
"the ghost in the machine" as non-existent, a phantom, a mirage, an
illusion, a false notion, a flawed theory, a disproved idea, or
whatever the occasion calls for in terms of describing this obsolete
word "consciousness."
