If you liked "In Praise of Evolvable Systems", you might enjoy "The
Rise of ``Worse is Better''" by Richard Gabriel:
http://www.jwz.org/doc/worse-is-better.html. It seems like he's
getting at some of the same points, but rather than talking about
evolvability, he speaks in terms of emphasizing "implementation
simplicity". I strongly suspect that these frequently amount to the
same thing.
