I wouldn't say that Kennedy was a lame duck, and he won by a similarly slim
margin (even allegedly stole the election from Nixon, if stories about Daley's
dad's actions in Chicago are true). However, your point has merit, even though
it seems that people will take the wrong idea from it and assume that we must
change things to a mobocracy.
