BINGO!!! People need to rationalize why they have not got the guts to stand up
and tell the government to bugger off. This explains the ho-hum attitude of the
majority of the population over government atrocities. Most people are quite
willing to beleive that the victims of repression are 'extremists',
'terrorists', 'child-abusers', etc. because it allows them to rationalize why
they allow this behavior by the government so long as it is not happening to
themselves.
This occurs easiest when the media is dominated by government supporters (as is
the case today).
