Have anybody read J.A. Tainter's _The Collapse of Complex Societies_?
I don't know if it is good or not, but I read a paper in Futures by
him there he had an interesting argument about complexity costs as a
limiting factor (and reason for collapse) of civilisations that
reminded me a bit about Vinge's ideas about late software societies in
_A Deepness in the Sky_.
