I seem to recall hearing that when they did the same thing to higher animals (chimps, I think), it didn't have anywhere NEAR the same effect. Apparently the best apes can achieve with wireheading is a moderately pleasant hum. Nothing compulsive-making.
I have NO idea where I heard this. Sources anyone?
