Unfortunately, nobody knows anything about the empirical nature of consciousness and how it might be created/replicated, so contrary to other posts which will (I'm sure, going by previous discussions) declare wholeheartedly some absolute answer to your question, there's no way of knowing or even guessing at present. If you're interested in consciousness (join the club), look up "The Conscious Mind" a book by David Chalmers. It is absolutely superb. Really clears your head, allowing you to focus upon the real issues surrounding consciousness, instead of running in tail-biting circles due to bad, intersecting definitions of consciousness,awareness,qualia and experience.
