Is there no-one investigating the possibility of inducing meiosis in other
types of cell? The artificial ova?

A bad choice of words on my part. I suppose there's a circular argument
that says a parent is defined in terms of a genetic relation to offspring,
therefore DNA has a lot to do with parenting. However, as someone
considering the adoption/donor option, I understand exactly what you mean.
