Yes, I think this is indeed what many people do instinctually.
I like to think that I am trying to nudge them one of the ways
they naturally tend to go and perhaps by description enable
them to do it better.

People also often become prematurely confrontational as
a way of testing potential opponents. Sometimes they lynch
people, put them in camps, etc. Sometimes two otherwise
decent groups of people end up going to war while the
real perpetrators laugh all the way to the bank.
