holy wars

The epitome of an oxymoron must be “holy wars”. The concept is so absurd
that I refuse to capitalize the words. That’s the least I can do.

I’m flipping through all the stations reporting on the terrorist attack. We
don’t yet know who did it.

Someone asked, “How in God's name can something like this happen in the name
of religion?”

IMHO, the same way it happened in Old Testament genocides, the Crusades and
various Inquisitions. People will do anything, no matter how hideous,
through faith in the wrathful, vengeful God of most monotheists.

When we evolve as a species to the point where we see the beauty of our
differences, when we recognize the absoluteness of our individuality, and
when we understand that tolerance is less virtuous than acceptance, perhaps
then we’ll stop killing each other in God’s name.
