They believe precisely what they agree to believe, at the time of the
agreement, and only as long as the agreement lasts. For example, they believe
it's wrong to murder people, unless they agree that mass murder is called for
during the Inquisition or the Crusades, etc. You see, as Charles Lutwidge
Dodgson pointed out, they can believe several impossible things before
breakfast everyday. They seem to thrive on cognitive dissonance.
