pinko/commie phase anecdotes

Mike Lorrey's mention of his own pinko/commie phase leads me to tell
about my stepfather. Two things stand out: once he asked me what I
thought about the SDS. I didn't have much of an opinion at all about it,
told him so and asked what he thought. He said: 'They're communists'.
(btw my stepfather was a former SAC lt.col.)

Another time was when the US bombed Hanoi for Christmas. I still
remember the first few lines of the special report newscast, mentioning
'wave after wave of B-52 bombers'. He clapped and cheered. It was rare
to see him this animated. The link was formed:

Demonstrators = bad, bombing = good.
