Hi, all. My name is Dan Clemmensen. I frequented this list
a few years back, and I have now re-joined. I see many old
names and many new ones. I've been lurking for a week or so.

I see we are still re-hashing many familiar themes, and still
exploring new ideas, also.

For the folks that don't know me, I'm a systems architect
working with data communications equipment. I'm now with
a company that is building an Internet core router scalable
to > 1 Petabit/sec.

I'm also very interested in the singularity and related
matters. In 1996, I predicted that the singularity will
occur no later than 2006. I still think so. Of course, I
also told Damien that any prediction more than a year in
advance should be disregarded.

Note the new e-mail address. The cable company finally
got t our street, four years after the initial promise of
service. The only force on the planet capable of delaying
tbe singularity is the inertia of the cable and local phone
companies.
