Sorry, Lee, haven't had time to look for exact figures. I'd suggest a Web
search.

Hard figures to get. I don't know if anyone keeps track of this. I have a
friend who's a psych counselor with my local school system, and he says
there are numerous kids in our community who don't get anything to eat at
home; but he only sees some of them and wouldn't be able to say what the
total number might be. The grocery stores here throw away huge amounts of
food, so if a person's clever enough to raid the dumpsters without getting
chased away, and not too fastidious, there's no reason to go hungry. From
what I hear, this has not always been the case. I believe that in the 1930's
it was much more difficult to find food.
