The Extropian Institute is not a religion! There would have been definite advantages to doing it that way(as I have explained on the list), but Max More decided not to. He considered the idea a violation of his personal integrity.

"The Extropian International Church" would probably have a net worth of many millions of dollars if it existed right now! lol But, we would then most likely be seen as a kooky or even dangerous personality cult. Max wants extropianism/transhumanism to be taken seriously by the media and public so he and others can really make a difference.

All that money would have been nice though...
