Who was this earlier author she used?

In this vein, a question that might be of interest, is what sort of stories
are best for children? Are the fairy and folk tales of any given culture a
good influence? a bad one? no influence? (I tend to think they are good,
but I'd like to hear what others have to say.)

Also, has anyone on this list read _The Uses of Enchantment: The Meaning and
Importance of Fairy Tales_ by Bruno Bettelheim? His view there is that
fairy tales help children to deal with their emotions but concretizing them.
Pretty interesting read, even if you don't buy into his theory.

Cheers!
