Human Genome Project: Costs

I calculated the total costs on the HGP since its inception
this morning.

Total U.S. costs since 1988 have been $2.5 Billion, with
about 70% being paid by NIH and 30% being paid by the DOE.
If you assume the Wellcome Trust via the Sanger Center have
contributed another third or so, the total cost would be about
$3.8 Billion. There might be another 10-20% in the European
and Japanese efforts.

Just a little piece of trivia to brighten your day.
