I agree, it was wrong to say that.
The writer there was saying that the extropian individualism seems to be
very strong, provocative, reacting to the political (etc.) constraints.
We use political terms in a way which is strictly dependent on the political
story of our country, and dependent also on some meme kindly sucked in.
