You might be interested in Harold Cohen's robotics. He first created a
robotic interactive art piece in the late 1970s. His work mentored
subsequent interactive/robotics pieces, namely Ken Goldberg's interactive
robotic "Garden" which was set up on the Internet some years ago. People
at various locations could participate in watering the plants steering the
robotic arm that did the watering.

There is the "Nerve Garden" at http://www.biota.org/nervegarden/index.html

If you decide on your idea, I'd be delighted to exhibit it on the
Transhumanist Art Web site gallery.
