Again, Smolin, not Dyson, is proposing a kind of synthesis, a hybrid of digital and analog. If I recall, he uses a varient of the word, "combination" to indicate this. I believe this goes back to mathematics and which system is best to perform solutions; base 10, base 8, 0,1??? I am a pragamtist, if we get father with digi, fine, if its analog, s'all right.
