if not exactly pessimism, then sober realization that the Spike, or
the Swell, or whatever the hell it is may not exactly be a tour of
the chocolate factory. It's certainly a **delicate** matter to
broach explicitly on this list, and some people don't take well to
airing it in public, but it's there.
