military, surveillance, nanobots & other comforting topics

Don't tell Bill Joy, but the military (DARPA) is admittedly actively
researching "extremely small" intelligent robots for remote military action,
surveillance, reconnaissance, deception, weapon delivery, etc.

For a while I took comfort in the hope that we would not be stupid enough to
create bots that could "survive" in the wild. Or that we wouldn't build
*intelligent* self-replicators, or at least that they would not be designed
for "military action". These DARPA folks obviously haven't seen
_Terminator_ and I'm starting to get nervous again.
