But doesn't a universe "infinite in space and time" make the Great Filter that much more baffling? Now we have to explain the abscence of an infinite amount of civilisations/Powers. Under the Big Bang theory, we have the hard-enough problem of explaining why a large but finite past light cone is empty. Because our past light cone under BB is finite, we can at least BEGIN to speculate about probabilities. How do you propose to explain the emptiness of an infinite light cone?
