Personally I tend towards a stealthy control ship with remotely-controlled or semi-intelligent drones to do the fighting. As someone else said, the big problem in space battles will be finding the target, and any action you take is likely to give away your position. Better to send out a few drones with active sensors followed by more with passive sensors and large warheads to kill any targets they spot.
