I don't know, but one should be careful about calling any of the
superstring or M-brane theories "accepted". They tend to change all
the time, to the delight of the theoreticians, but so far none has
really worked out to the extent that they have got popular outside
this select group. The number of dimensions seems to vary quite a bit,
up to 26 (I think).
