I think this is axiomatically true. 'Sanity' means that you think just
about the same way as the majority of people in your society; Celia Green
wrote a book about this. So inevitably if you think very differently
you'll be considered 'insane'. Of course, most great art comes from people
who are either 'insane' or can nip over there for a weekend.

I remember reading an account of a discussion between Joyce and some
psychologist (Jung?) about the similarities between Joyce's writing and
schizophrenia, with the exception that Joyce was swimming in the ocean of
insanity while the schizophrenics were sinking.
