Lyle, this is not a "they say" situation, this is (or was) a fact.
School counselors ACTIVELY steered female students away from mathematics
and sciences until about five years ago. It was not considered a
suitable career choice for females. At least in America and most
European countries. Why don't we hold off on judgements regarding
women's ability in the mathematics and sciences until enough of them
have worked their way through the employment pipeline to reach
positions where their full potential can be masured? (Assuming that
they will be promoted.)
