It's not that the AA hypothesis on its own is totally convincing, it's
just that the alternative is even less convincing. The 'savannah'
scenario just doesn't cut it, so far as I can see, for the reasons Morgan
outlined in her first book. There may seem to be little evolutionary
pressure for bipedalism in the shoreline scenario, but there's none at
all in the savannah scenario!
That, plus the vagina thing and aquatic-neoteny-leading-to-big-brain just
appeal to my parsimonious instincts.
