The book is called "Sentics" and is based on some experiments done with
a
sensor mounted on a table which measured pressure and shear forces. A
subject
would be told to press the sensor with a finger while feeling a
particular
emotion. The book shows a number of graphs of pressure/shear vs time
curves and
claims that emotions are universal among humans, ie, the curves for say,
sadness,
are the same regardless of culture. Clynes then makes a number of vague
references
to music without providing any way of relating a piece of music to the
curves
in the book.
