I try to avoid becoming a victimized minority screaming for my rights. This
is part of what drives me to overcome and struggle for improvement all the
time. However, as an oppressed minority, I don't have as much faith in
American freedom as some do. That's why I'm not as offensive as a pushy gay
rights activist. I have long ago given up the delusion that I could get
equal rights in America. I have found other ways to keep out of trouble and
work around the system. I don't expect the system to give me freedom or
equality.

That's why this discussion set me off to post all these details. I was
shocked and appalled to hear people question whether gay activity was
illegal or patrolled in modern America. This stuff happens all the time,
but people don't see it if it doesn't happen to them.
