"Dead tree volumes" have the advantage of being write-once and having
no external interfaces; thus there is no chance of them being
perverted by a remote attacker. One has the confidence that, 1000 years
from now, modulo decay and physical access controls, the dead
tree volume will contain the exact same text as when it was printed.
