Hmmm... Well, the New York Times seems to say
otherwise... I originally found the story on
Slashdot:

So far I haven't read anything else to contradict it.
Do you have any other references that you can point me
to? And weren't those various companies and
institutions paying Celera prior to the final
sequencing of the genome?
