I attended a debate about globalisation yesterday. The interesting
thing was how suprised and confused the anti-globalists on the panel
became when they got critical, well-researched questions (such as
whether the Swedish branch of Attac shared the international
organisation's view on banning non-european immigrants, why they
thought Tobin taxes would not hurt investment in thrid world nations
and the many small transfers home made by immigrants etc). They are
used to not being questioned, and found themselves as a disadvantage
when they had to actually answer this kind of questions. Of course, in
this case the audience (that was predominantly on their side) had been
'infiltrated' by a number of us pro-globalists that had been thinking
up good questions beforehand. I expect that the right questions can
deflate even Jeremy Rifkin.
