Last time we discussed this I proposed that we should create The Clock
of the Long Grow, a clock designed to celebrate the tremendous changes
which will occur this century. (I named it after Robin Hanson's essay
at http://hanson.gmu.edu/grow/longgrownew.html.)

Perhaps we could sink it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the
deepest point in the ocean at 11 km, almost 3 times deeper than Titanic.
(This is the most inaccessible place that I can imagine reaching easily.)
We would demonstrate our faith that future technology would be able to
locate the device and return it to the surface.

(Since writing this I learned that people dove to the bottom of
the Mariana Trench as early as 1960! I guess that's too easy.
Unfortunately launching into solar orbit is likely to break the budget
for any reasonable effort.)
