I know who Kamen is. We've discussed the robotic wheelchair
for a while here and elsewhere.
What I'm not getting is the amount of hype. AI, molecular
memory or inertialess drive or even a fuel cell for home use
this ain't.
The thing is supposed to cost 2 k$ minimum. Anything beyond
15 km/h will require head protection at least, plus knee
protection. Users *hate* that.
Hence: the thing is dead as a doornail. I hope subsequent
similiar attempts of marketing by hype alone and kindergarten
"pretty-pretty, shiney-shiney" type of public reactions will
be much harder.
