I doubt there are any intelligent aliens, or if there are any, they are very
few, and have not advanced all that much. The arguments I have seen that
argue that Earth is a rare, rare case seem very strong.

On a tangent, the more I read the more I think that in general science and
tech reporting is mostly hype, and that extends to medical and health
reporting (especially).

There is much to gain (big grant dollars and big stock price increases and
big sales) for science and medical/health hype, and there seem to be no
significant legal or professional penalties. So we get all this hype.

So maybe we cannot take any science/medical reporting seriously.
