The difference is that Damien is writing in conversational English about
somewhat complex topics, while Robert is generally dealing with fairly
complex subtleties in philosophy, semantics, etc. Your attraction to
one style or another is probably related to the meme set for which
your communications style is tuned.

Damien has to artfully simplify many concepts without entirely losing
their complexity while Robert has to avoid doing so because that
might extinguish refined or subtle distinctions. There are two
very different arts being practiced by these individuals, each
of which has their own place and value.

Of course, I'm excluding from the above analysis those conversations
where they explore the endless trivia our language history provides.
In that respect, we are just lucky that Robert Freitas doesn't
actively monitor the list. With 3 active wordsmiths, I think
I'd have to exit-stage-left.
