Actually what helped to conquer the highly centralized south american,
and north american (mexico is in north america) empires was the fact that mayas
were already in decadence, and with mexicas (or aztecs) were finished because
of new diseases like small pox, and also because hernan cortes, made peace
and alliances with rival tribes who hated the mexicas because they were
opressive
before that, hernan cortes couldn't conquer the mexica empire
