machine setter. I saw many people made redundant, when there positions
were taken by bigger, better more cost I never did work out the nitty
gritty of this system where the workers own the machines as I left
manufacturing and became an IT consultant. Which irronically has placed
me in a very similar position.

I envy you; I want to go in the reverse direction; IT to machinist :)
Perhaps you could help me with something? I'm looking to find a
Tool and Die program, rather than CNC Training.... Any ideas?
The state dept bites; in that they don't really have a list of
    institutions/workplaces....
