     I don't assume that the current amount of self-deception is fully stable.
    I suspect the self-deception has evolved recently enough that we are still
    in the process of finding an equilibrium point. I think we are more gullible
    about believing the altruistic claims of others than is stable, and are
    slowly evolving more skepticism.
