    This is a wonderful advance, because it provides a more direct path to
    specific tissues than stem cells.  Once we get a method to use adult cells
    from a patient's own tissues to grow more tissue, we no longer have a
    problem finding the cells we need.  Even the most damaged organs usually
    have some healthy cells left in them which may be harvested to grow
    patient-specific replacements.
    This may also be a politically more expedient path than stem cells as well.--
