I found an interesting article on TCS,
    http://www.techcentralstation.com/1051/defensewrapper.jsp?PID=1051-350&CID=1mess
051-061903A, about US military identity. Amazing similarities to imperial
Rome. I feel even the acronyms have an eerie ring to them - SOCOM (Special
Operations Command), similar to SOC (Secretum Officium Caesarii), maybe
Secretum Officium Caesarii Omni Mundis (pardon my declensions). Worth
    reading.

If the vision advanced by the article's author was to come true, one day
armored legionnaires, carapaced centurios, whose predecessors started out as
the Grand Army of the Republic, will hold a sleepless vigil over the world,
looking down at the teeming proletarii, ready to spring into ruthless action
at the emperor's, sorry, Commander-in-Chief's order.

    I hope not.

    Rafal
