    Robert Bradbury asked:
<<In other words -- if ones conversation is not directly
directed at saving lives does it belong on the list?
(Goes to the nature of what is "extropianism" and *who*
    can contribute to that?) >>

Counter-question: (Rhetorical) If, as many contend, Al Qeida and company are
determined to damage the USA, via terrorism then should we be primarily
concerned about saving their lives, over that of friends, helpful groups and
    neutrals?

To answer your question, we need to be able to promote anything that assists
in the survival of humanity and democracy; not necessarily in that order.
Usually conversations ought to deal with the implementation, of new technology,
scientific understandings, economics, government policy and the like. This is
what I see happening on the list most of the time.
