Nuts are paleo. Many roots are not. Potatoes, for example, are virtually
indigestible unless cooked. Paleo theory states that one should eat only
foods that are digestible in their raw state, which is not to say that one
should not cook them anyway to make them more palatable and to reduce the
risk of infectious disease. Indigestible raw foods include most legumes as
    well as potatoes.

Ideally from a paleo perspective we should eat more organ meats, though
aside from liver they are no longer very popular. Hardly anyone in the west
eats insects but serious paleodieters do try to eat eggs and meat from
    range-fed poultry raised on insects.
