    Hello all,

Whenever the list covers controversial topics the
S/N ratio just drops. Yet to those involved in
heavily-debated threads (gun control, Heinlein, Rand,
qualia, etc.) these same discussions might remain
    remarkably interesting and important.

This raises some questions in my mind about how the
list changes as a single thread grows to dominate traffic.
Does some critical point exist in duration or volume that
triggers editorial response? How do dominant threads
change plonk lists and number of subscribers? It would
also interest me to know how dominant threads change the
fraction of received but unread messages in subscriber's
inboxes. How do we clearly visualize these changes? What
    else should we look for?

And yes, I do know about Anders's sociograph.
